How Can You Tell?
An SSL certificate ensures the payment pages are securely encrypted against hackers and the company that owns the website and domain name have been checked by the issuing certificate provider. When proceeding to the payment pages you will see the beginning of the website address change from http://www. to https://www. The additional S denoting the Secure Socket Layer, a padlock may also appear at the end of the website address bar. Many browser types will go red or warn if its is not safe to proceed - but not always so be aware and check for yourself. The address changes for the Dusk & Dawn cart when the shopper decides to ‘check-out’ - you should always ensure it has changed before you enter any credit card details on ANY shopping website.
How Else Can You Tell?
Website owners can also purchase a certificate ‘badge’ to show they are secure and in our case also have insurance against hackers. There are many different companies offering various types of SSL certificates, such as VeriSign, Thawte and Comodo, our certificate is widely used and very well-known (shown in the bottom RH corner), you can click on it to verify the owner’s details and visit the issuer’s site.
When online shopping it’s a good idea to check the contact page to ensure the company is real and traceable with a proper business address and contact number. If you’re not sure about who they are you can also telephone them to see how they answer the phone and you can also check their details and registered address on the CompaniesHouse website (assuming they are Limited). Try Googling their trading name and see if others have written anything negative about them.

Credit Card Processing
We use Shopify for secure credit card processing; when you ‘check out’ and enter your credit card details you are already in an encrypted page, your details go directly for processing through a secure connection, they are not stored on our site and are not retrievable by us.
Information is collected about you for two reasons: firstly, to process your order and secondly, to provide you with the best possible service. You will not receive advertising or special offer e-mails in the future unless you have given us your consent during the sign up process to do so.
You will always have the option to unsubscribe or refuse any marketing email from us at any time now or in the future.
The type of information we will collect about you includes:
- your name and username
- phone number
- email address
Note – No credit/debit card details are ever held
The company will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent. The information held will be accurate and up-to-date. You can check the information that we hold about you by emailing us. If you find any inaccuracies we will amend or delete promptly.
Personal information will be held securely in accordance with our internal security policy and the law. If we intend to transfer your information outside the EEA (European Economic Area) we will always obtain your consent first.
The company may use technology to track the patterns of behaviour of visitors to the website. This can include using a "cookie" which would be stored on your browser. You can usually modify your browser to prevent this happening if you prefer and cookies can be deleted at anytime by you. The information collected in this way can be used to identify you unless you modify your browser settings.
